The Stars Come Out for Charity
Over 1,000 guests enjoyed an evening of star studded entertainment at a gala ball in aid of local children's charities

Topping the bill at the Lord's Taverners Waterloo Ball was veteran popster Billy Ocean, with soul singer Mica Paris also making a guest appearance. TV personality Chris Tarrant, President of the Lord's Taverner's charity in the UK and fellow Taverners, actor Robert Powell and local personality Gerry Kelly hosted the event which hopes to raise in excess of £150,000 for local children's charities.
The main sponsor of the event was Phoenix Natural Gas with key supporting sponsor Ulster Bank. The highlight of the fundraising efforts on the night was a 5 star auction which saw items such as a Chopard diamond necklace donated by Lunn's the Jewellers sell for £10,000.
The ball, which is staged biennially, is widely recognised as one of the most successful corporate fundraising events locally. In 2008 over £160,000 was raised for a range of children-focused charitable initiatives funded by the Lord's Taverners NI and the Energy for Children Charitable Trust.
